Energy labels explained for home buyers

What does the energy label say about a home, and what should you watch for with an old or missing label?

What the label says

The energy label runs from A++++ to G and shows how energy-efficient a home is. It is based on insulation, glazing, heating and installations.

Check the date

Labels are valid for ten years. An old label may no longer reflect the current situation, for example if insulation has been added since.

Combine with the photos

Do you see single glazing or an old boiler in the photos? That fits a lower label. Our report mentions points like these per room.
